Git Yer Armband
"We put warning labels on cigarette packs because we know that smoking takes one to two years off the average life span, yet we 'celebrate' a lifestyle that we know spreads every kind of sexually transmitted disease and takes at least 20 years off the average life span according to the 2005 issue of the revered scientific journal Psychological Reports," Rev. Bill Banuchi, executive director of the New York Christian Coalition told the Mid Hudson News.
And what would Rev. Banuchi have us conclude from this? While he claims he is not suggesting that we label gays, it's certainly disturbing that he makes the comparison. Lifestyle warning labels. What a novel idea... or, I suppose not novel for anyone familiar with the Nazis and their penchant for labeling.
How does "ugly" affect one's life expectancy? I seriously wonder what sort of a label Banuchi might wear when he is done marking all those who do not conform to his narrow, rigid view of the world.
Since sex itself brings with it a number of risks that lower life-expectancy, perhaps Banuchi would like a world full of people who asexually reproduce themselves via cloning. He, of course, would be the template. The mind boggles. The blood curdles.
But wait, then they would all be male.
Have I stumbled upon a hidden agenda?

I thought I should look up the "revered scientific journal Psychological Reports" to find out if it is revered or scientific.
It didn't take long to find this:
http://jabbs.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_jabbs_archive.html
"Turns out, Psychological Reports is one of two "vanity publications" produced by Ammons Scientific Journals. Like a vanity book publisher, Ammons will publish just about any work, if the author is willing to pay -- in this case, a reported $27.50 per printed page."
Here's a much better URL:
http://ammons.ammonsscientific.com/homepage/publication.php
It's the publisher's payment and submissions policy.
So, maybe not revered or scientific, but it's a journal, much like the one I used to write in when I was 12.
Or like any blog!
The revered and scientific Thing of Ugly!
