Irresponsible

Irresponsible pet owners are heartbreaking. Nobody's required to own a pet, so why have one if you're not going to take care of it?

Patti M. told me of her neighbor whose dog died of heartworm, an easily preventable disease, and called the death "God's will."

I have a neighbor whose yard is infested with rats. I've discussed it with both the husband and wife several times, printed out rat information from the internet specifically on pet food and fecal matter (both food to rats), and discussed it with them after they read the information. The cage is still full (seven days at least) of fecal matter and I can still see full bowls of pet food in the cage. The kicker? They used to have two dogs, but one died of a mysterious illness over the winter. "Maybe she was bitten by something," the wife speculates.

Will the other dog be bitten by something as well? I dunno. God's will.

I know. The dogs behind me have left the cage twice that I've seen since they moved in (about seven years ago). Both times it was to play with the kids for about five minutes. Even in the worst winter conditions, they're out there. It's very sad.
