Cowardwear

If you haven't caught the latest trend, it's wannabe thugwear. AKA Cowardwear. Stop Snitchin. Also, warn the police... seen here.

Clothes that encourage you to withold evidence from the police, or spread the word that the police are hot on your trail.

This takes on special meaning in the context of the rising homicide rates in the Boston area.

I snapped this picture at the Providence Place Mall. So, if you want to aid criminals, perhaps you can shop there for your apparel.

Is it meant to be ironic? If so, it's bad timing.

It's funny... You can chase Howard Stern to satellite radio so he can be offensive, but your kid can wear any outlandish offensive nonsense on a T-shirt anywhere. I was at a local bar/restaurant and a chap made quite a stink because the management wanted him to change his obscene T-shirt (not even funny, it just had a number of offensive words in a sentence). He made such a ruckus, they eventually sat him. Unfortunately, he switched seats and sat directly across from the door, so anyone entering would see his shirt. And he would shout, "It's my freedom-of-speech rights!"

Am I just getting old? That's what I wondered a bit when I considered posting this.

But it didn't take me long. I've worn some goofy T-Shirts (I got some looks when I wore the Bare Bones Software T-Shirt promoting their wonderful product BBEdit. The shirt proclaimed "It Doesn't Suck!") but there is a line, somewhere.

I'm a huge proponent of free speech. But when did that mean you could encourage crime and wear obscene words on your shirt in a restaurant?

It's the new freedoms. You are free to ofend everyone nearby, and encouraged to do so. You are not free to your privacy. It's all smoke and mirrors. Distraction, distraction, distraction.

I was following what you were saying pretty well until the end. Then I lost my train of thought.

"Duh," indeed.

You apparently don't understand what "brother" means, or what the implication of needing to warn the police means.

I repeat: "Duh," indeed.
